βThis smells plasticky and creamy-sweet with a herbal medicinal note. Some of the plastic smell goes away in the drydown but not fully. It remains in the background. If the oud was not plasticky and more smoky, this would be a better perfume.Comparing to the original Shaghaf Oud, Aswad is darker, slightly medicinal, and slightly more masculine, whereas the original is more sugary, creamy and unisex.Smell: 5 out of 10Longevity: 8 out of 10For reference, I'm female.β
βMUST LOVE ROSE to enjoy this one. Sweet jammy rose, oud, and patchouli. The opening is quite sweet, almost smells like there is some fruit in addition to the rose. It settles and dries down to be rose heavy, oudy incense. Beautiful and rich smelling. Thus makes for a great cold weather rose fragrance when is when I will most likely wear this. Projection, sillage, and longevity are heavy and long lasting. Perfectly unisex in my opinion but my boyfriend felt it was too feminine leaning, so he gave this one to me .β
βSmells like sweet burning incense with some rose, saffron and spices. Very traditional Arab/desi scent. Projection is amazing and so is the longevity. Because of its projection, heaviness and spices it can definitely become cloying and suffocating especially in high heat. I recommend this for more formal occasions in the evening. The only thing I donβt like about this is that the opening is very strong and almost bitter/sour as it reminds me of tasting grapefruit of that makes sense, however the dry down is where that sweet, spicy, rose, incense comes through.β
