“This smells like unripe dates. The opening is not my favourite. It’s sharp and very boozy. But the dry down is sweet and has an astringent quality that you find in fresh date as a fruit, a natural tart aftertaste, kind of like molasses. it’s not vanillary sweet, you can smell the molasses’ smokiness and astringent sweetness. It’s more “natural sweetness gourmand” compared to for example Lattafa eclair’s family. also expectedly less smooth. It’s unique. The dry down is interesting and likeable.”
“REEKS on the open. Alcohol and screechy date super concentrate. Then it turns into a synthetic banana cake (the long shelf-life kind that come ready packed in plastic at the supermarket) smothered in fake caramel syrup and date molasses. The dates turn more realistic toward the dry down but there is nothing to temper the syrup. No salt, no spice, no grounding resin. It doesn’t even smell like sticky dates by lush! That one at least smells like real dates.”
“Smells like a warm spicy sticky date pudding with thick hot caramel over the top. I’ve never smelled Sticky Date by Lush, but this is definitely a sticky sweet gourmand. I do get a black liquorice note in the dry down, which I’m not a fan of - but after letting it sit, it’s no longer so prominent. Great projection, especially in the first couple hours & longevity for me too, 5-6 hours before it dulls too much. I imagine it could be cloying in warmer weather but I love it on a chilly night.”
