Yves Saint Laurent
Last updated
A sophisticated aromatic composition that opens with the bright, slightly spiced allure of star anise and bergamot, softened by herbaceous rosemary for an intellectually refined introduction. The fragrance settles into a deeply earthy, woody base where patchouli and oakmoss create an almost contemplative warmth, anchored by the mineral coolness of vetiver and the subtle smokiness of guaiac wood, evoking the essence of Left Bank sophistication and understated elegance.

“One of my favorite smells in the world. The ultimate dad fragrance.I didn’t want to pay the current insane prices, so I started to look for alternatives or clones and after several settled on River Fougere by Dua. (hear me out here) The opening is not good, or similar to my nose. It has this strange sourish smell. I was pretty upset that I wasted money, and then the dry down hit and I was so relieved. It’s actually surprisingly close and lasts forever. If you are open to clones and don’t want to break the bank, check it out! You may be as surprised as I was!”
“Absolutely a mens fragrance without any doubt! Simply classy barbershop, one of the best of its category. Strong and long lasting worth to buy. A little sweet, a little creamy, retro, sophisticated, masculine and smooth at the same time, an absolute classic! The longevity is nice, about 7-8 hours and the sillage is really heavy. Very nice choise for winter, autumn and spring. The most distinguished notes are star anise, rosemary, levander, geranium and patchouli. The other ingredients are not so strong. Its a masterpiece.”
“To Antoshka2, the poster below: you can get a close approximation for a good price with River Fougere by Dua. It smells almost exactly like the heart notes of Rive Gauche. If you love River Fougere, then you can decide if it's worth it for you to splurge on a bottle of Rive Gauche. The main difference is that Rive Gauche is slightly brighter and fresher because of the prominent rosemary and lavender in the opening. Performance on both is great. Hope this helps!”
