Encode successfully captures the fresh citrus opening and woody-spicy character of Explorer, with a nearly identical projection in the first two hours. However, the base develops slightly warmer with more prominent amber, whereas the original settles into a cleaner vetiver-musk finish that feels more refined and lasting.
The clone's heart notes shift slightly toward geranium rather than pure cedar, and the base trades the original's sophisticated musk drydown for a softer amber sweetness. Longevity is comparable at 6-7 hours, but sillage on Encode is marginally softer.
