“Wonderful take on POAL, the og POAL used to be my absolute signature scent, but since it has been bought by Estee Lauder... it's not the same and i feel is not worth the price.This has been a gorgeous compromise, a tad bit cooler than the original (or how i remember it), but still sensational for the price especially.”

“French Portrait is quite close to Portrait of a Lady, but it feels softer, smoother, and easier to wear. Compared to the original, it has less depth, darkness, and overall intensity.I actually prefer this lighter character for everyday wear, but I have some perfumery oils and plan to make a few small adjustments to bring it a little closer to the original while keeping it more wearable.”

“A musky, soapy rose.Not a lot of patchouli, though more comes out in the dry down.Quite a feminine fragrance, with nothing to bring it in a more masculine direction (like the cardamom and incense and coriander in The Spice Must Flow, or the dirty patchouli in Antaeus).I'd say the biggest difference between this and the original PoaL is that this is more soapy, classic and aldehydic, while the original is more musky.”
