Bois Oudh captures the spicy opening and woody heart of Oud Wood reasonably well, with the cardamom-pepper spark and oud prominence present in both. However, the clone typically lacks the refined balance and seamless transitions of the original, with a slightly sharper synthetic character in the mid-stage that becomes more apparent after the first hour.
The original has better longevity and smoother blending between notes, while Bois Oudh tends to be slightly more linear and may project slightly less sillage. The base also tends to feel less sophisticated in the clone, with the vanilla and amber appearing more prominent relative to the woody elements.
